Mom to Mom: The Shaping of the Christian Family

Elisabeth Elliot was one of the most loved and respected Christian communicators of our day!  Her unusual life and the extraordinary commitment to God that she lived out have been powerfully used in women’s lives for decades.  In The Shaping of a Christian Family, she has written the story of how her parents nurtured her faith.  She reveals cherished memories and valuable insights gathered from her own experience.  Through the stories of her parents, grandparents, and siblings, Elisabeth Elliot extols the importance of obedience, prayer, and forgiveness, among other lessons she learned as a child.  “Training must come before teaching,” Elliot writes.  This is one of many simple principles, along with the powerful truth that very young children are capable of giving their hearts to Christ, that we will study in detail.

This will be the second time we have studied this book in Mom to Mom.  Our leadership team believes this is one of the most powerful books we have ever presented, and we so look forward to going through it again!  So as we begin reading, studying, and sharing around the table with other moms about The Shaping of a Christian Family, we will glean from Elisabeth Elliot’s wisdom and the wisdom of her parents, knowing that we are reading the thoughts of a woman of faith who has truly walked the talk.
