John: That You May Believe, Part 2

The book of John offers something for everyone from the person seeking to know Jesus for the first time to Christians who want to experience His love at a deeper level. Through a combination of lecture and discussion, this class offers women an opportunity to study one of the most quoted and beloved books of the Bible in a fellowship of caring Christian women.

The class uses Kathleen Nielson’s book John: That You May Believe to guide the study. Nielson says that the book of John offers insight into “Jesus' deep discourses and the beauty of his unfolding passion throughout its chapters. Jesus, the Word made flesh, emerges powerfully and personally, so it is no surprise that John sums up his gospel's message as ‘so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name’” (John 20:31). John offers a theologically deep answer and a compelling historical narrative as to the identity and purpose of God's anointed Son.

The book contains 20 chapters, covering the 21 chapters of John.  The fall course covered the first ten chapters of John. Chapters eleven through twenty-one will be the study for Spring, but each course can stand alone if a participant can only do one course.
