A Study of Colossians and Philemon

Colossians was written for people like us, but during the first remarkable years in the early church. The same Holy Spirit who inspired Paul to write these letters can teach us what they mean and how to apply them to our lives. Paul always wrote with special care to celebrate the absolute supremacy of Jesus Christ, and richly so in Colossians. It is amazing to see Paul’s love and insight as he writes to a church he had never been to!  In Colossians, he also corrects some soul-destroying errors in theology and teaches us how to live for Christ in our daily relationships. In Philemon, Paul addresses a delicate interpersonal conflict within the church and helps us to see how to honor God in restoring a relationship.

A study guide, Continue to Live in Him, will be used in addition to class lectures and will be a helpful guide for daily reading, meditation, and memorization of Scripture. The author of the study guide, Kathleen Nielson, testifies to how serious study of the Word of God has kept her focused, growing, and alive in the deepest ways. The process of studying the Word…seeing the shape of a book from the Bible and the passages in it…guided by the Spirit of God should truly feed our souls, and transform our lives!

This is a ten-week study with five lessons in the fall and five in winter-spring.

Exodus, Part 1

Exodus, the second book of the Old Testament, continues the narrative begun in the book of Genesis.  We find God’s chosen people, Israel, living in Egypt. Although they originally came as honored guests because they were Joseph’s family, they have multiplied in number and been enslaved by the Egyptians. Exodus tells of God’s redemption of Israel from this bondage, and of His guidance of the people to the land of promise. Join us as we discover how God’s purpose in history is revealed through this account of redemption, covenant, and the building of the tabernacle, all of which picture God’s plan that would be fulfilled through Jesus Christ.

A Study of John 15

There is no greater, more abundant, purpose-filled living than in relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Job 36:22 says, “Behold, God is exalted in his power; who is a teacher like him?” The answer is no one! This seven week verse-by-verse study of John 15 will treat us to some amazing and life-changing teaching straight from Jesus. As He uses an analogy involving Himself as the True Vine, God the Father as the Vinedresser, and we children as the branches, we will view glorious spiritual scenery. God’s desire is that we glorify Him by bearing much fruit, and it only happens as we abide in Christ. Prepare to come alive and be transformed as the Savior of the world invites us to true Kingdom work as beloved children.

Revelation Part 1 - Jesus' Message to the Church (Precept Upon Precept)

Chapters 1-3 of the Book of Revelation contain God’s messages to the seven churches of Asia.  This inductive study will demonstrate how the messages to these churches, recorded so long ago by the Apostle John, still speak to the Church today.

Our study begins a four-part presentation of the entire Book of Revelation.  We will examine God’s prophetic words, which He spoke through the Old Testament prophets, as well as the New Testament Apostles, and how they reveal the way He will faithfully bring His plan of the ages to a Glorious Conclusion.

The Magnificent Obsession: Embracing the God-Filled Life

In this study on Genesis 12-22, Anne Graham Lotz challenges us to follow Abraham’s example and join her on a lifelong pursuit of knowing God.

Abraham’s life was full of twists and turns, riches and losses, deceit and redemption, failure and success.  Nevertheless, his story held the key to satisfying Anne’s hungry heart.  The key: embracing a God-filled life.  Step by step.  Choice by choice.  Day by day.  Despite struggling, as we all do, with compromise, fear, family, quarrels, doubt, and disappointment, in the end, Abraham knew God…as His friend.

Through personal anecdotes, unforgettable stories, and inspiring insights, Anne shares answers found as she has embraced the God-filled life.
